Parish Assistant

Parish Assistant

Your Parish Assistant - Scott Edward Reynolds .

Although many of you have met me, or have seen me in church in my role as Minister’s Spouse, I now have the pleasure of introducing myself as your new Parish Assistant. My name is Scott Edward Reynolds and I hail from the small village of St Peters on the Isle of Thanet in Kent, where I grew up living above my parents' pet shop. I have a daughter name Lauren, named after Lauren Bacall, who is 23 and has just become engaged to her fiancé, Kieron.

Education-wise I have a bunch of A-levels, an HNC in Information Technology, a degree in both Aquatic Science and Theology. I am currently halfway through a PgCert in Healthcare Chaplaincy at Glasgow University. I have a love of history, film, science fiction and comic books. I love ‘who-dun-its’ and really enjoy reading medieval murder mysteries. I am really a bit of a nerd!  As you walk past the manse you may see me ‘beavering’ away in the garden, or my feet sticking out from under my car, but I am always happy to stop for a chat.

I have a mixed employment history, from IT technician, IT support desk co-ordinator and web developer, fish farmer, nursing assistant - before moving towards ministry. I had a fun time as a candidate for ministry with the Church of Scotland, working in a mixed range of churches including those in Tillicoultry, Dunfermline, Islay, Campbeltown, Inverness and Orkney.

Sadly, I had to stop my ministry training due to ill health, though, with the help of my darling wife Fee (aka, Rev. and Boss) I was able to get back on my feet, though I felt a bit lost. I love the pastoral side to ministry and really missed it. This led me to start studying Healthcare Chaplaincy at the University of Glasgow. I volunteered as a chaplain at Glasgow Royal Infirmary and was given the honour of becoming the chaplain to Erskine Veterans' Hospital. I now have a new role as the side-kick to your minister (maybe I need a better catch phrase?).

I am really looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you over the next few years, in both my role as the minister’s spouse and as your Parish Assistant

God Bless.                  Scott Reynolds BSc BA
